Internal Medicine: Well Adult Exams
Male
Should be performed every 1-2 years
Tests & Exams
- Blood pressure at each exam
- Cholesterol every 5 years
- PSA yearly after age 50
- Fecal occult blood yearly after age 50
- Eye exam every 2-4 years
- Prostate/rectum annually after age 50
- Flexible sigmoid exam every 5 years for those 50+ or colonoscopy every 10 years
- Other exams for cancer as appropriate
Immunizations
- Tetanus shot every 10 years
- Flu shot yearly for high risk and > 65
- Pneumovax shot once for high risk and > 65
- Hepatitis B for high risk patients
Female
Should be performed every 1-3 years
Tests & Exams
- Blood pressure at each exam
- Cholesterol every 5 years
- Mammogram every 1-2 years age 40, then annually after age 50
- Fecal occult blood yearly after age 50
- Eye exam every 2-4 years
- Breast exam annually after age 40
- Pap smear every 1-3 years
- Rectum annually after age 50
- Flexible sigmoid exam every 5 years for those 50+ or colonoscopy every 10 years
- Other tests/exams as appropriate
Immunizations

- Flu shot yearly for high risk and > 65
